After the boys did their chores, we had our devotional.  I said, “One of the difficulties of being young is the lack of confidence.  You don’t know what to say or you don’t want to say the wrong thing or do the wrong thing.  Yet, to be honest, adults sometimes have the same lack of confidence.  Jeremiah said to the Lord, ‘I do not know how to speak; I am only a child.’  When we have bible studies, the older ones answer the questions.  When you play soccer, the older ones make the goals.  We get more confident when we get older and wiser.  Who gives us the wisdom?  The Lord.  Proverbs 2:6, ‘For the Lord gives wisdom, and from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.’

“How long were the disciples with Jesus?  Three years.  Jesus spent time with them and taught them about love, compassion, forgiveness, discipline, mercy and grace.  They asked a lot of questions.  Did they always have the right answer?  No, yet that is why we study God’s word.  Like Jeremiah, the Lord gives the words to say.  The bible is God’s words so He teaches all of us what to say and do in our lives.

“Just because you are young, doesn’t mean that you can’t be an example to others.  Remember when Jesus fed the 5,000?  A little boy had five loaves of bread and two small fish.  Do not think that you don’t have enough to offer that the Lord can’t use.  Do not think that you are too young to be used by God.

“I have talked to you about this before but it is always good to teach.  1 Timothy 4:11-12, ‘Command and teach these things.  Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.’  All of you can be good examples to others.  The way you speak to the teachers, classmates and adults, being obedient to the rules in school, the dorm and at Casa, waiting on the Lord and being faithful, doing what is right in the Lord’s eyes and not yours, desiring to live for the Lord and not the world.

“Is it difficult?  Yes.  Temptations are all around us yet God is faithful and He always gives us a way out.  We need to trust in Him and Him alone.  ‘The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.”

Vencedores and Cometas…playing hard

I took the boys to the school soccer field after lunch and did some work around the flagpole and school.  The Cometas came by and joined our boys, and they had fun.  Vencedores + Cometas = FUN!!!
