same old, same old

The children received new Bibles from the Bible Society.

Chad and Abby will be leaving next month so I want to remind you of our need of a couple who are called to Casa to be house parents for the baby dorm. Please pray hard for God to move on someone’s heart.

Thom & Shawna are celebrating their 29th wedding anniversary so we all went to Antigua for lunch.

The word patience in the Old Testament means “longsuffering” or “slow to anger”. Exodus 34:6 “The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth”.

Trying one’s patience means to finally exhaust someone to the point of causing punishment and anger to come. It could actually mean “weary”. So tired from the constant disobedience we must finally do something about it.

I believe that patience in the New Testament refers often to perseverance. Someone wrote that perseverance is patience on the move. We actively continue the work that God has called us to. The word is so important because we are often doing mundane work.

I do not preach to thousands and go from place to place to bring the message of Christ. I work every day in much the same way being a father to over 300 children. I have the same problems and walk the same path almost every day. It is mundane. I plod.

Most of us are plodders. We are trying to be faithful to His call on our lives. There is little glory or recognition or great event and victory every day. It is routine. It is loving children and hoping to make their live better by sharing Jesus.

I suppose patience can best be defined with the words: Same old, same old
