Mercy 4

There was a huge police presence this morning as Dottie and I were making our way into downtown Guatemala City. Squatters had taken over a huge section of land and the police were removing them.
Sindy 2 still is hospitalized.
Based on what we shared yesterday we learn from the story of the Pharisee and the Publican that there are two kinds of people. There are those who are self-righteous. These people do not feel a need for a Savior. The other person is the judgmental type individual. These are who Jesus were identifying in Luke 18.
He says in verse 18 that if we exalt ourselves we will be abased (humbled) but if we humble ourselves we will be exalted. jesus wants us to see that if we trust in ourselves rather than in His Word and Spirit we are headed for disaster. We will be reduced to the level of unworthiness and uselessness. We will also forfeit the mercy of God that we need so deeply.
But if we see ourselves for who we really are as seen in the Publican we will have true repentance and that will lead to tolerance towards others.
