The keeper of my soul #2
While I was in the states a bus from another home was driven by a drunk who flipped the van killing a pedestrian who was the son of one of our employees here. The driver’s own son broke his back & will never walk again. This does not help the image of all “CHRISTIAN” homes in the eyes of the Government.
Estella, Kevin, Brenda & Evelyn’s 36 year old uncle fell dead this morning. He was only 35 years old and has 8 children.
As we saw yesterday when a stream is unattended it will die. It is the same with our soul. We care so much about tending to the needs of our bodies as well as our desires, etc that often we simply neglect our souls.
This past month while in the USA God just simply applied the brakes. Every visit home over the last more than 20 years I had ministered 4 to 6 times a week. This trip was very different as I ministered about twice a week. This allowed me to rest and read and pray and study and realize that I needed to TEND TO MY SOUL.
When I was told a few weeks ago “You have had a (physical) hand in everything built here at Casa” it caused me to realize that I was not that young 60 year old man anymore. I have come to realize over the years that it is not about what we do or accomplish but it is about who we become. I want to be a better Christian, husband, father and more responsible as head of this ministry.
When we leave this world there will be question we will need to answer before God. It will be “What did you DO with the life I gave you?” We hope to say that we did not do bad stuff. However, sin not just the bad stuff we do IT IS THE GOOD THINGS THAT WE DO NOT DO.
The Psalmist tells us to “Bless the Lord o my soul and all that is within me”. So there it is. What is in us?
