Day of the Corn
The Day of the Corn is a day celebrating the importance of corn to the nation of Guatemala. It is celebrated in every school in the nation.
Corn has been the main crop for eating, selling and bartering for centuries. It is said that in Mesoamerica 9000 years ago one harvest could provide food for an entire year.
It also was reason for socialism and friendships. It is considered holy and is often portrayed with having eyes, ears and a mouth.
Traditional attire is not just clothing, it is a living history. Tradition never goes out of style.
Two of my oldest and dearest friends who began sponsoring us when we came to Guatemala had a terrible boating accident and two of their friends drowned. Just pray for peace for and the other family.
